Dr. Edward HallowellMillburn-Short Hills Special Education Committee (M-SPEC) and The Winston School are proud to invite the community to attend a seminar by highly- renowned speaker, Edward M.Hallowell, M.D. as we learn about "Finding the Buried Treasure in ADHD".

 

Join us on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at  7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary at Christ Church, 66, Highland Ave, Short Hills,NJ. This public event is FREE but donations  are greatly appreciated and will be accepted at the door on the night of the program.  All proceeds will benefit M-SPEC, a 501(c)(3) corporation.

During this extraordinary evening, Dr. Hallowell will offer a basic introduction to the world of attention deficit disorder, including diagnosis and treatment in both children and adults. Dr. Hallowell will also discuss the human experience of ADD (ADHD), the impact of ADD on the family and the various treatments available; as well as the directions of current research.


His goal is to help people master the power of ADHD while avoiding its pitfalls. His message will be all encompassing as he talks about what it is like to have ADHD, explains some of the brain science behind it and how it has implications for how people learn.


Dr. Hallowell is a child and adult psychiatrist, a NY Times bestselling author, world-renowned speaker and leading authority in the field of ADHD. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Tulane Medical School, and the founder of The Hallowell Centers. He was a member of the Harvard Medical School faculty from 1983 until he retired from academics in 2004 to devote his full professional attention to his clinical practice, lectures, and the writing of books.


Dr. Hallowell is a highly recognized speaker around the world and has presented to thousands on pertinent family and health issues. He has been featured on 20/20, 60 Minutes, Oprah, PBS, CNN, The Today Show, Dateline, Good Morning America, The Jane Pauley Show, The View and many more. He has been interviewed for The New York Times, USA Today, Newsweek, Time Magazine, U.S. News and World Report, USA Weekend, the Los Angeles Times, the Boston Globe and many, many more.

M-SPEC is a volunteer parent advisory group that works towards the understanding, respect, support and excellent education for all children with unique learning needs in our community.

The Winston School educates students who, though intellectually capable, have had difficulties in school typically due to language-based learning disabilities. The goal is to enable our students to meet with confidence, the academic and social challenges of life.
